About Stock Island

Stock Island is the working-class neighbor to Key West, separated only by Cow Key Channel. Most of the deep-water charter fleet — fishing boats, dive boats, and the larger sandbar catamarans — operates out of Stock Island Marina Village. The marina has parking, a few good restaurants (Hogfish Bar & Grill, Roostica), and a more relaxed vibe than Old Town's tourist crush. If you're staying in Key West proper, it's a 5-minute Uber to the marina; if you're road-tripping, parking on Stock Island is easier than navigating Old Town's one-way streets.

Tours from Stock Island tend to be longer, full-day or half-day formats — the marina's deeper basin means larger boats, which means trips out to the Marquesas, Dry Tortugas, or the deep reef are practical. The downside: fewer 2-hour quickies than Key West's Historic Seaport. If you want a sunset sail, leave from Old Town. If you want a serious fishing or snorkel day, leave from Stock Island.
