Editorial spotlight · 402 Church Avenue, Bradenton Beach
Up over Anna Maria Island on a line behind the boat, with the Gulf on one side and the bay on the other and, often enough that reviewers mention it, dolphins below. Observers ride for less than flyers, which means nobody has to sit it out on the beach.

The operation
The parasail operation works out of 402 Church Avenue in Bradenton Beach, flying over the stretch between Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key. Flyers go up on the line; observers stay aboard at a lower rate, which is the detail that makes it work for a family where not everyone wants to be a thousand feet up.
The same company runs a double-decker party pontoon, private dolphin and intracoastal tours, sunset cruises and a private excursion to Egmont Key, the uninhabited island at the mouth of Tampa Bay with an 1858 lighthouse and the ruins of Fort Dade. Fourth of July fireworks cruises run in season.

The site does not list crew by name; reviewers name Captain Jared, Matt and Julian.
The one to book
The flight itself, over the pass between Anna Maria and Longboat. Takeoff and landing happen off the back of the boat, so you go up dry unless you ask for the dip.
Flyers $89.99, observers $74.99. Crews on this stretch regularly put flyers over dolphins; reviewers mention it often enough to be worth knowing.
