Captain Clearwater

One boat, one captain, six guests, and a route decided by what you actually want: dolphins, a sandbar, a sunset, or a lesson at the helm. Captain Chris has more than forty years on this coast and is a Coast Guard veteran, a licensed electrician and a trained chef, which tells you something about the kind of day this is.

The operation

One boat called Salt Therapy

Captain Chris grew up on the Gulf Coast and spent the late seventies and eighties living on Eleuthera in the Bahamas. He is a US Coast Guard veteran and a USCG-licensed master captain, and the site lists a licensed electrician’s ticket and work as a chef alongside the boating, which is the sort of resume that explains why reviewers keep describing the trips as customised rather than scheduled.

The boat is Salt Therapy, a 21-foot NauticStar deck boat with a 150-horsepower Yamaha, Coast Guard rated for ten but run with a maximum of six. Aboard: a four-speaker stereo, a large cooler, full safety gear, Garmin GPS and VHF, a bimini for shade, boarding ladders fore and aft, a freshwater sink and cutting board, a power pole for anchoring in the shallows, and sun pads.

“Your trip, your way. Every cruise is tailored to your style, whether it’s laid-back or lively.”
